FROSTED PEACEFUL REFLECTION - December 2018 Stamp Camp

Hello, Stampers!
This is another card we created at Stamp Camp this month - isn't it lovely and "peaceful"?  It was very easy to make, too.  Let's get started!

Happy Stampin’!

mandsduffy@comcast.net

Measurements
PAPER – Whisper White Thick CS – 8-1/2 x 5-1/2, score at 4-1/4; Highland Heather –
5-1/4 x 4; Shimmery White – 5 x 3-3/4

INKS – Highland Heather, Old Olive, Night of Navy, Lemon Lime Twist, Pool Party, Mint Macaron; Highland Heather Marker

OTHER – Stamping Sponges, Wink of Stella, Glitter & Clear Epoxy Shapes (if you have them), Spritzer containing alcohol and a few drops of Frost White Shimmer Paint

Instructions
  • Lightly sponge Night of Navy near bottom of top layer, then blend in Pool Party in the middle, and Lemon Lime Twist near the top
  • Stamp stem/leaves in Old Olive, and two-step flower in Highland Heather, using Marker to ink the flower stem, if you are afraid of over-inking your stamp
  • Stamp water ripples and water bug/fly in Mint Macaron; fill wings in with Mint Macaron stamped off and add Wink of Stella
  • Lightly spritz card front with alcohol/Shimmer Paint mist, add Epoxy Shapes or other clear or glitter embellishments and adhere layers.
That's it!  Unfortunately, the overall frosty sparkle is not visible in the photo, but it is gorgeous IRL.

WHO DOESN'T LOVE BUTTERFLIES?  and
LOOK AT THOSE COLORS!
Hello, Stampers!
Aren't the colors in this photo appealing?  They make me think of Spring (I'm ready already) and Easter.  Some of the creations shown above were created with FREE DSP (with $50 net order) - Botanical Butterflies - black & white on one side and those gorgeous colors on the other.  There's a bundle in the Occasions Catalog with a coordinating stamp set (Butterfly Gala) and, ready for it . . . a Butterfly Duet PUNCH!!  And, guess what?  The punch coordinates with some of the butterfly images on the DSP!  Woo hoo!
The Occasions Catalog products and Sale-A-Bration Brochure freebies will be here before you know it!  January 3rd.  If you are customers of mine, you will get your catalog and brochure by mail or with your order, if you ordered at December Stamp Camp!  Not sure if you will get yours in the mail?  Better check with me.

EASY PEASY UPRIGHT CALENDAR

Hello, Stampers!
I found the template for these quick and easy calendars* on a YouTube replay of one of Barb Stamps' (Barb Mullikin') FB Live episodes.  I used a different sentiment, simplified it a little, and you can certainly pick whatever colors you want.  I'll set out measurements and instructions below, but you can find Barb's video under "Facebook Live Replay - Desk Calendar, ..."  Sorry, the copied link wouldn't work.
*I ordered my Mini Calendars from Taylored Expressions - they are min.10 for $3, but, unfortunately, the s/h costs more than the calendars.  If you need quite a few, I doubt you would have to pay more shipping.  If you order soon, you'll have them in plenty of time to use for Christmas.
I will list products I used below.

Happy Stampin’!

PAINTED GLASS IRIS - FRESHLY MADE SKETCHES Challenge #363

Hi, Stampers!
Above is my submission for FMS Challenge #363.  Here is the template.  Read on.
I've been wanting to make something with the pretty irises in the Graceful Glass Vellum paper stack and, since the panel is long and narrow, this sketch fit the bill.  My irises panel is full card length, but I think that will still be acceptable.  Then, what to use for the accent strip.  I looked through all of my current DSP and found this "marble" pattern in the Petal Promenade DSP - perfect - stained glass and marble.
The only other adjustment I made to the sketch is that I trimmed my card front at 3-1/4" and added the DSP strip to the exposed inside of the card.  Not sure if you can tell that from the photo.

Happy Stampin’!

LOW INVENTORY SU! HOLIDAY CATALOG PRODUCTS

Hi, Stampers -
SU! has experienced IT communication difficulties with it's new inventory control program (if you've ever worked with a PC, you know how that goes) and has advised us that the following Holiday Catalog products are in short supply and could very well run out sometime next week!  So, if you are thinking of ordering for holiday cards, etc. that include any of these products, you would be wise to do it now.  E.g., the above Festive Farmhouse Framelits (part of a bundle) are on the list and will not be carried over, I'm sad to say.

THIS IS HOW WE CAS AT SU! CHRISTMAS TEA, COFFEE, COCOA TENT - By Pootles, Sam Holland Donald, SU! UK

Hello, Stampers!
Want to use up your holiday/Christmas DSP leftovers?  I have the perfect solution for you!  Well, not me, exactly, but I'm CASing with all of you.  ;-)  CAS is the acronym stampers use for Copy And Share - that is pretty much SU!'s philosophy.  Anyway...
Kim Jolley (stampinartfully.com) shared her version and a link to Sam Holland Donald's (Pootles.co.uk) YouTube video tutorial for this easy treat holder, and now I'm sharing my version and passing it on to you!  Just click HERE.  (The video title says "Falling Flowers...," but it is for this project.).  Take note of Sam's instructions when trimming the rounded flap section - cut a hair inside your score line.
I'll just tell you what I used and the size.  I used leftover Festive Farmhouse and Dashing Along DSP, cut 9-1/2 x 5-1/4; my retired large Corner Rounder Punch (Sam used the Detailed Trio Punch), retired ribbon, retired red Glimmer Paper and retired Red Foil.  On the above, I used retired Delicate Ornaments Thinlits. On others, I used the snowflakes Thinlits dies from the Colorful Seasons/Seasonal Layers bundle.
Have fun!  I'll be buying tea and cocoa pouches and coffee, too, if there is such a thing.

Happy Stampin’!

COMING IN JANUARY! CLING STAMPS BY STAMPIN' UP!®

Hello, Stampers!
How many of you (us) have stopped adding the labels to our rubber/clear mount stamps because they don't always stay put like they should on the clear block?  I raise my hand!!👋
I've always preferred to use the label images to help with placement, but it just got frustrating that some wouldn't stick properly, so I pretty much don't use them.  However, SU! listened to our grumblings and starting with Sale-A-Bration (SAB) and the 2019 Occasions Catalog, all NEW stamp sets will be offered in Cling or Photopolymer - wood-mount stamps will be phased out except for Background Stamps.
For more details, click "read more" below.

SHADOWY WINTER WOODS - November 2018

Hi, Stampers!
Here is another project from my November 10 Stamp Camp.  LeeAnn Greff has a great video on YouTube on how to create this "shadow" effect - or, as I like to call it, three-dimensional.  These subtle trees also work well for a sympathy card.  Just send me an email me for a printable Project Sheet.

The flowers and leaves in this set are part of Stampin' Up!'s new Distinktive stamps that were introduced this year in the Annual Catalog.  You can watch a short video about how they are made here:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QF5VHPlkScQ

LESS IS MORE CHALLENGE #383 - DIMENSION - BRUSHO on BUBBLE WRAP

Hello, Stampers!
This is my entry for the Less Is More #383 Challenge - "Dimension."  I thought about doing a simple embossing folder background, but then thought about this easy, colorful technique I played around with when SU! first started carrying Brusho.  For this card, I used  4 of the 5 colors of Brusho from Stampin' Up!:  Prussian Blue, Brilliant Red, Gamboge (mostly orange with yellow), and Moss Green.  I hope this fun background is not too "busy" for the Less Is More team!  Here's the technique; it's pretty simple and you can find video tutorials on YouTube:
  • Brusho can be messy, so you should probably lay down scrap paper, wax paper, or a silicone baking sheet.
  • On a piece of the smaller size bubble wrap - bubbles up - (you might be able to see it above), cut larger than your desired background piece (my watercolor paper on this card is 3 x 4-1/2"), lightly sprinkle one or two colors of Brusho or use as many as you like!  I sprinkled mine in vertical sections:  blue, green, gamboge and red - left to right.
  • Spritz with water and lay your watercolor paper on top and lightly press your paper down to pick up the color.  Let dry and that's it for this fun background.
  • NOTE:  If  you can't wait for your paper to dry you can use heat, but it might fade your colors a little, so in the meantime, just proceed with the rest of your design.
  • The mat is one of my favorite new colors, Mango Melody - so nice and bright.  The Happy Birthday is die cut with Poppy Parade - a nice, bright tomato red.
