JULY 2020 STAMP CAMP - COMFORT & HOPE WATERCOLOR WASH

Image
Hi, Stampers!     Comfort & Hope is one of the sets new to the Stampin' Up! Annual Catalog.  The focal point is Watercolor Cardstock 3 x 3-3/4, mounted on Dimensionals, washed with Flirty Flamingo using Aqua Painter/Water Pen and the edges sponged.  The stamped circles are stamped with Gold Glitz Delicata ink and the woven-look background is stamped in Crumb Cake.  The leaves (fussy-cut) and sentiment are stamped in one of the new In Colors, Misty Moonlight.     The card base is Very Vanilla Thick CS and is embossed with the retired Coastal Weave embossing folder part of the way up and accented by a 1/4" strip of Gold Foil.     The accents are Gold Glitter Enamel Dots and a Gold Hoop.          Happy Stampin’! MORE SHARE SUNSHINE COVID-19 DOWNLOAD SAMPLES

Image
Hi, Stampers! Here are two more easy samples for you using the $12 Covid-19 .pdf that you can order here.   https://covid19.stampinup.com/ The two Quarantini cards are quick and easy to make.  The slightly different template was inspired by Jackie Bolhuis' card at Klompen Stampers.  Once again, I used retired DSP scraps, so I will not list that here.  The only stamp I used is "It's your day!," from the Under My Umbrella set, which fit perfectly over the top of the "Have another Quaran-tini" sentiment from the download.  Find measurements and supplies below. EMBOSSED AND WATERCOLORED - LOVELY MAGNOLIAS

Image
Hello, Stampers! I'm so glad the Magnolia 3D Embossing Folder is not retiring.  I embossed watercolor card stock with the embossing folder and then just colored it with ink pads and here and there with Stampin' Blends.  It's hard to tell here, but the turned up edges of the magnolias are colored Soft Sea Foam and I added Clear Wink of Stella to the flower centers.  The DSP is Magnolia Lane. I did run into one problem.  Watercolor card stock has a mind of it's own and/or I embossed it too deeply - I ran it through the Big Shot several times.  I had some problems with warping, so if I try it again, I may try going light on the water and using Shimmery White CS instead.  The background is a combination of Blushing Bride and Petal Pink.  The leaves were die-cut with the Magnolia Memories Dies.  The sentiment is embossed on Mossy Meadow and is from a very old set I go to often, Warmest Regards.  More colors and supplies are below. STAMPIN' UP! MAGNOLIA LANE SUITE 3D

Image
Hi, Stampers!      This is another sample from my August stamp camp, introducing my stampin' friends to this lovely suite (pp. 36-39 Annual Catalog).  This card is super easy, but is not quite as it appears.  It appears that the embossing and scalloped edge were cut and embossed on the front of the base and that the DSP is actually on the inside of the base.  Actually, the scalloped, embossed layer and the 1" x 4" DSP strip are attached to the front of the card base.  The embossed layer is popped up on Dimensionals.  See more here. . WATER, WATER EVERYWHERE.... STAMPIN' UP! SAILING HOME, A LITTLE BRUSHO "ART PIECE"

Image
Hi, Stampers!     Playing around again with this easy brushing Brusho technique (see my May 4 post) .  This time I added some extra water droplets from my Aqua Painter for a little more interest.  Don't be afraid to experiment - try it, you'll love it! Happy Stampin’! Sue Duffy ~ mandsduffy@comcast.net Details      The base is a vertical A2 card of Whisper White Thick CS, and the mat layer is also WW Thick, cut with the largest of the Stitched Rectangle dies. My "art piece" is 2-3/4 x 3-3/4 Watercolor Paper.      I sprinkled Prussian Blue and Yellow Brusho onto the Watercolor Paper and spritzed with water and brushed it with my Aqua Painter, blending the colors a little in the middle.  I then added droplets of water from my Aqua Painter here and there, dabbed off a little excess with a napkin, and let dry.      The sailboat and birds are stamped in Night of Navy, using my Stamparatus, in case I had to re-stamp.  When I made sure the stamped images w

BRUSHING WITH BRUSHO!© - A QUICK AND EASY WASH TECHNIQUE

Image
Hi, Stampers!      Another rainy day in the Indianapolis area - I feel sorry for the Mini-Marathon Runners and the Kentucky Derby fans and "runners," too, just south of us in Louisville.  Good day for stampin'!  I've just finished up the samples for next Saturday's Stamp Camp.      This card was inspired by a tutorial at FrenchieStamps and it really is quick.  Details below. Happy Stampin’! Sue Duffy ~ mandsduffy@comcast.net Shake some Brusho Crystal Colour* - remember you don't need much - onto a piece of Watercolor Card Stock, cut to 3 x 3-3/4. Use 2-3 colors, at most.  I used Prussian Blue and Yellow.  Spritz with a fair amount of water and with your Aqua Painter or a wet brush spread the color across the paper!  Let it dry - that's it!  If you want to dry with a heat gun, the color will lighten a little. When your color-washed piece is completely dry, pat with your Embossing Buddy and stamp desired image from Dandelion Wishes in Versama

STAMPIN' UP!'s HAPPY TAILS for Birthday (SNEAK PEEK) - April Stamp Camp - RGB CODES

Image
Hello, Stampers!      I will be hosting Stamp Camp next Saturday, April 13, at 10 AM, here in Mooresville, IN.  I you are local (including Indianapolis) and would like to join us, let me know by the end of the day, Monday (April 8).  Now, on to this card.       You know, sometimes we are not thrilled about an upcoming birthday - the older we get, especially - been there, done that.  I've mentioned before, that I've been starting to print my own, original  sentiments for the inside of a card.  So, we will use one of my original sentiments for this Happy Tails, "not so thrilled to be having a birthday" card.             TIP:   D id you know that you can use color codes to match SU! colors when creating a document or online?   After over 10 years as a Demonstrator, I finally found out about it - I never asked - who knew?  They are called RGB/HEX codes - and numbers correspond to each color. HEX for online use and RGB for MSWord or other software.  A generous, ta

STAMPIN' UP!® LET IT RIDE (IN THE BARN) - PLAYING AROUND, AGAIN

Image
Hello, Stampers!      Cloudy and gray yesterday; perfect for staying inside and playing with my stamps.  Let it Ride is a new set and I haven't used Barn Door in a while, soooo, what goes better with barns or stables than horses?       My barn wall is, of course, Wood Textures DSP - i couldn't get any easier than that.  The barn door (just cut in half) and mat are traditional Real Red, base is Very Vanilla.  I stamped the door in Early Espresso and also a few weeds or grains from Home to Roost at the bottom left. My chestnut Bay horse was stamped in Memento and colored with Dark Cajun Craze and Dark Smoky Slate Stampin' Blends.  The rope is just medium Baker's Twine.  Products are below.  Here's the inside. INSPIRE.CREATE.CHALLENGES - #038 Sketch Challenge

Image
Hi, Stampers!      The above Inspire.Create.Challenges 038 Sketch Challenge was too simple for me to pass up.  I flipped it and used a piece of Whisper White Country Floral embossed card stock and added my cute squirrel friend from Fable Friends. Both were colored with Stampin' Blends. The lavender background is from the Needlepoint Nook DSP pack.  That's it! Happy Stampin’! JUST PLAYING, WITH STAMPIN' UP!® HAPPY TAILS AND MORE

Image
Hi, Stampers!      Such a yucky day, so I sat down to play around with my new stamp set, Happy Tails (see it wag?), and it took off from there!  SU! sets work so well together, even with other, non-SU! items you might have around the house.  I used bits of 4 SU! stamp sets for this card.      I hadn't used the At Home With You set in some time, so I brought it out, along with A wreath from the Barn Door bundle, and the sentiment from Home to Roost!  I didn't want this door to be just flat, and I didn't want to put the sentiment inside the door, so I dug around and came across a stamp/die set I've had for some time from Taylored Expressions, and decided to put it to use inside the "house."  You could easily use DSP to make wallpaper, instead.      You can't tell unless you look really close, unfortunately, but I used the Pinewood Planks Dynamic TIEF, horizontally, for the house.  The door is cut from the Wood Textures DSP.

STAMPIN' UP!® LEMON ZEST NOTE CARD

Image
Hello, Stampers!      This is such a solid set for several "occasions."  There are sentiments for birthday, get well, tough times, encouragement, even a valentine.  I love puns, too, so this one's right up my alley.      I stamped the lemons on Glossy White CS and ran the top lemon through the Big Shot with the Softly Falling TIEF, rough side on top , to get a peel effect.  Pretty realistic, don't you think?  The leaves are stamped in Pear Pizzazz and Old Olive and all were punched out with the Lemon Builder Punch.  I added a bow of Lemon Lime Twist Ombre Ribbon, a Glitter Enamel Dot,wrapped the bottom edge in black pattern Washi-tape and stamped the envelope.  My inside sentiment says, "Chuck them right back!"  A quick little card with a big message.  Products below. Happy Stampin’! Sue Duffy ~ mandsduffy@comcast.net

ENCOURAGEMENT CARD WITH STAMPIN' UP!® FABLE FRIENDS

Image
Hi, Stampers!      The images in the SU! Fable Friends set are so like the adorable illustrations in Beatrix Potter books, and I love these little ducklings.  I kept thinking, "ducks in a row, ducks in a row..."  I decided the phrase was perfect for someone in our family trying to cope with a major life change and, voila!, I utilized my newly discovered (to me, anyway) method to add my own verse inside a card.  It sure opens up lots of possibilities!    I've listed products below, which is really all you need to know.  Everything else is pretty much standard.  The Shimmery White stitched rectangle is 2-3/8 x 3-5/8; the offset piece of Grapefruit Grove is 2-3/4 x 3-3/4.  One note of caution:  use markers , not Blends for coloring the mama goose on the inside of your card, because it might show through the back - take it from me.  ;-( Happy Stampin’!
