EMBOSSED AND WATERCOLORED - LOVELY MAGNOLIAS

Image
Hello, Stampers! I'm so glad the Magnolia 3D Embossing Folder is not retiring.  I embossed watercolor card stock with the embossing folder and then just colored it with ink pads and here and there with Stampin' Blends.  It's hard to tell here, but the turned up edges of the magnolias are colored Soft Sea Foam and I added Clear Wink of Stella to the flower centers.  The DSP is Magnolia Lane. I did run into one problem.  Watercolor card stock has a mind of it's own and/or I embossed it too deeply - I ran it through the Big Shot several times.  I had some problems with warping, so if I try it again, I may try going light on the water and using Shimmery White CS instead.  The background is a combination of Blushing Bride and Petal Pink.  The leaves were die-cut with the Magnolia Memories Dies.  The sentiment is embossed on Mossy Meadow and is from a very old set I go to often, Warmest Regards.  More colors and supplies are below. MANGO POPPIES THANK YOU NOTE with LABEL ME BOLD (again)

Image
Hello, Stampers! I'm glad Painted Poppies has carried over to the 2020-21 Annual Catalog ( and , it has been carried over as a 10% off Bundle with the Painted Labels dies).  Although I love the poppies DSP and have used it tons, I wanted to use something other than our usual reds, purples or pink, which seem a natural for this set.  Since I'm a big fan of Mango Melody, that'swthat I used . I wanted to keep this to no layers, so I stamped the flower with the "fill-in" stamp in the set with Mango Melody and added a little bit darker accents with the marker as opposed to Blends, which show through on the reverse.  The Label Me Bold "thank you" is stamped in Old Olive and popped up with Mini Dimensionals.   Not sure if you can see here, but I laid the note card face down on my Simply Scored and scored two lines, about 5/8" apart, across the front for just a little something extra. SU! 2020-22 IN COLORS!

Image
Hi, Stampers!      Just wanted to give you a sneak peek.  These are the 2020-22 Stampin' Up! In Colors!  Which do you think might be your favorite?  I love the Cinnamon Cider, because it reminds me of the old Creamy Caramel - who remembers that?  How long ago was that?  Looks good enough to eat.  I like them all, but the softness of Bumble Bee, if these are true color projections.  It's hard to be spot on when dealing with different mediums.      There you have it.  I'll post another little note card with the retiring Label Me Bold set in a little while. LITTLE-NOTICED RETIRING SET - LABEL ME BOLD with MOUNTAIN AIR and SNOW FRONT TREES

Image
Hello, Stampers!      I just recently noticed the Label Me Bold set in the January-June 2020 Mini.  I have always liked this type of strip sentiment.  I also like the smudges, squiggles and stars, etc. in the set, which, sadly, is not being carried over.  I used the little stars in the sky above, as well.  I love this impression of looking up through the trees at the sky.  I also made a couple in shades of green on Seaside Spray CS and one on Balmy Blue, but I thought them a bit dull - one is below - you might feel differently!  I used Snow Front for some of the trees.      Good news, BTW.  Mountain Air has been carried over as a 10% off Bundle!  #153820      I made up a couple different sentiments of my own for the inside and will print them, as needed.  Click "Read more" or "Read in browser" for colors and supplies. RETIRING - MUSIC FROM THE HEART

Image
Hello, Stampers!      I'm sorry to say this set, Music From the Heart, designed by Million $ sales winner Dawn Olchefske, will not be carried over into the 2020-21 Annual Catalog.  I haven't had it very long, but will surely keep it because it's not flowers, animals or scenery!  LOL  The inspiration for my card came from Mary Brown - I changed some colors and the sentiment, but otherwise, the credit is due Mary.  Don't you love the LPs?     I used Black Foil for my LPs, but regular Basic Black CS is fine.  Also not necessary to use DSP for the guitar - it's a bit flimsy for fussy-cutting.  I plan to use Gorgeous Grape for my next guitar.  ;-)      Click "Read more" or "Read in browser" for my colors and supplies. NORTHERN LIGHTS OVER THE MOUNTAINS

Image
Hi, Stampers!      Today's inspiration is the Northern Lights.  It's a simple sponging technique and there are some videos online.  I tried to recreate what I call the "curtain" type of Lights.  I Googled images of the Lights online and went from there.  The Lights are perfect for coordinating with the Mountain Air Bundle, which will be carried over, but not at a 10% bundle discount.       I used Mossy Meadow ink on Mossy Meadow CS for the tree line,  stamped off once. The mountains are stamped in black onto Navy CS.       You can find colors and materials I used by clicking "Read more," or "Read in browser" to visit my blog. Happy Stampin’! NO APRIL SHOWERS HERE! - UNDER MY UMBRELLA BUNDLE

Image
Hello, Stampers! This template was inspired by a Pinterest post by Jini Merck, stampwithjini.com.  A simple wash background (on WW Thick CS), See A Silhouette DSP and Glossy CS for the rubber boots.  (I probably could have gone a little brighter on the DSP umbrella.)  The flowers and boots are fussy-cut and the sentiment was punched with circle punches and popped up with Dimensionals, with a little ribbon underneath.  Links to the products are below. Hope you are staying inside, taking precautions and staying well.  Good excuse for some extra stamping and crafting. Happy Stampin’! Sue Duffy ~ mandsduffy@comcast.net

STAY-AT-HOME EXPERIMENT - SANS STAMPING

Image
Hi, Stampers! I hope all of you are being very careful, obeying guidelines and are still safe and healthy.  Since our gym is closed, so no spin class, no Tai Chi class (I've been doing it at home),* no lunch group, no book club, no stamp camp this month, I've got time to PLAY with new stuff!! The background on this "work of art" (I call it "Dark Before Dawn") was created on Yupo paper with Ranger Alcohol Inks (Tim Holtz):  Dandelion, Indigo, Coral and a tiny bit of Silver Mixative.  The flowers silhouette was simply die cut from Basic Black CS with the SU! Friendly Silhouettes Dies. What have you been doing? Happy Crafting! Sue Duffy ~ mandsduffy@comcast.net *If you are interested in how to find some wonderful beginner Tai Chi videos on YouTube, let me know and I'll send you some names to look for. THE POPPIES ANGLE - A FREE TUTORIAL

Image
Hello, Stampers!    I've created a photo tutorial for cutting the DSP angle for the above card front my January stamp camp, mostly because I am somewhat math-challenged and became frustrated trying to create this card using strictly measurements.  Just click below for the step-by-step.     I hope you find it helpful.  If you would like a printable version, just contact me or leave a comment!  Products below. I DO LOVE POPPIES! ANOTHER STAMP CAMP PROJECT - GIFT CARD OR $ SLIDER

Image
Hello, Stampers!      I purchased the tutorial for this gift card/$ slider through Kelly Acheson and the Stampin' Society - a group of talented SU! demos from across the globe.  I then created my own printable project sheet and shared the project at my January Stamp Camp.  I'm happy to share mine with you - just leave a comment with your email address or email me - it's FREE. I'VE BEEN MISSING! PAINTED POPPIES BUNDLE STAMP CAMP PROJECT

Image
Hello, Stampers!      We are more than halfway through January and this is my first project post!  Yikes!  We traveled to Buffalo for Christmas and I've also been making reservations, learning lots online, and shopping for our first ever cruise!  Just a 4-night blues cruise to Nassau, but when it's your first time, boy, we are clueless!      Anyway, this is one of the cards we created this month at stamp camp.  The color inspiration was a happenstance.  I arrange my card stock in color families and in alphabetical order within the family and have been doing it that way for almost 17 years.  It just so happened that these three stacks ended up in a kind of stair-step on the shelf and voila!  I like bright colors, anyway, so...      As you can see, it's really pretty simple, but what you might not see in this shot is that the larger blooms are enhanced with the Shimmery Crystal Effects from the Holiday Catalog.  The large poppy was stamped with Stazon onto watercolor

NATURE'S BEAUTY MASCULINE BIRTHDAY

Image
Hello, Stampers!      Veering away from the Christmas cards for this post; although with a change in color combination, it would be a perfect Christmas card  I'm so happy this set is not retiring when the Holiday Catalog ends!  This template is called the half door or half barn door.  It's very easy to make, so head to my blog to read more ! SIP SIP HOORAY EASY BOTTLE TAGS FOR YOUR GIFT-GIVING

Image
Hello, Stampers!      These bottle tags are so, so easy to make and make a great addition to your host gifts.  They are 2" x 6-1/4" and scored at 2-1/2" from the top.  Insert the top as far as you can into a 1-1/4" circle punch (or equivalent circle die), center, punch and decorate!  More below.

ANOTHER FUN SIP SIP HOORAY! CARD - December Stamp Camp

Image
Hello, Stampers!      Here is another card from December Stamp Camp.  Do you love this colorful background? It's  not  Pigment Sprinkles or Brusho - it's See a Silhouette Designer Series Paper!        We ran the piece of 3-3/4 x 5 DSP through the Big Shot on the Precision Plate with the bubbles/holes die from the Sip Sip Hooray Bundle and then with the Subtle embossing folder (optional), and adhered it to a 5-1/4 x 4 layer of Pacific Point CS.  The cocktail glasses were stamped in Memento and die cut from Shimmery White CS and we added some Multi Liquid Glue and Ice Glitter along the top edge (if you like salt on your margarita). 😉  See close-up below.  The margarita is stamped with Soft Sea Foam with Clear Wink of Stella added.  The top glass is mounted on Dimensionals at the top and glue dot at the bottom.  More below. CHRISTMAS STAMP-A-STACK SAMPLES - #3

Image
Hi, again, Stampers!      It's that busy time of year and two stampin' events in two weeks kept me pretty busy.  Anyway, here are two more card styles from my November Stamp-a-Stack.  Actually, we did not emboss the snow as shown in the bottom card, we just used the puffy snow, added snow glitter to it and heated it.  No need to emboss.    We also simplified the delicate little stick hands by just punching them out of Soft Suede or Early Espresso card stock, since some of them were going to be covered with felt, anyway.  I love those felt embellishments.  We used one or two on each of these cards - stamper's choice.      We used Wobblies to pop up our snowmen for some extra fun and also, on the top card, the retired Swirly Scribbles Dies with Sparkle Glimmer Paper.   Products below. Happy Stampin’! Sue Duffy ~ mandsduffy@comcast.net

CHRISTMAS STAMP-A-STACK SAMPLES - #2

Image
Hi, again, Stampers!      We went with some retro ornaments for this group of cards (two more below).  We made just one of each of these.  The dies are from the retired Delicate Ornaments set and we used sentiments from several current and retired Christmas sets, including Embellished Ornaments, the stamp set that coordinates with the Delicate Ornaments dies.  I usually keep holiday sets for several years because of the sentiments.      As you can see, we did use several current items - the Mercury Glass Acetate, Real Red Glimmer Paper and gold and silver Foil-Edged Cards and Envelopes.  Here are two more cards from this group.

CHRISTMAS STAMP-A-STACK SAMPLES - #1

Image
Hello, Stampers!      It's been a while!  I've been busy furniture painting and preparing for last Saturday's Christmas Stamp-a-Stack.  This is the first of the five cards we made (4 each).*  It is really quite simple and I think you can duplicate it just by looking at the supplies we used below.  The main ingredients are the Merry Moose Bundle** and it is based on the template for the sample on page 4 of the Holiday Catalog!  More info HERE .

FREE AS A BIRD EASY TRANSITION

Image
Hi, Stampers!      I've neglected my blog and stamping lately for furniture painting, but now I'm between layers and can post.      We created the above card at July Stamp Camp (see my post dated July 17).  I thought it might look cute for Christmas with some Chickadees and plaid, so here it is.  I kind of wish the branch didn't have flowers on it and tried to disguise them as berries with Shimmery Crystal Effects and embellishments - not necessarily successfully, but I still like it. Click here for the details. Happy Stampin’! Sue Duffy ~ mandsduffy@comcast.net

IT'S STILL FALL AND I DO LOVE FALL COLORS! + STAMPIN' TRIMMER

Image
Hi, Stampers!      It's about time, you say?  I just realized my last post was almost 10 days ago!  Time flies when you're having fun (or re-painting furniture) and losing a day to computer issues.  BUT, I digress.      First, the new Stampin' Up! Paper Trimmer ( Paper Trimmer, item 152392,  $25.00 US) will be available November 1st!  Click the image below to go to my October 6 post for more details.  (Multi-packs of cutting blades will be available in January.)     Now, about this beautiful fall card.  If you own the lovely new Gathered Leaves Dies, yay!  I don't.  Do you have the Colorful Seasons set and Seasonal Layers dies? Then you're all set to create some great projects similar to those showcased with the Come Together suite!  Details here . Happy Stampin’! Sue Duffy ~ mandsduffy@comcast.net

Hello, again, Stampin' Friends -      This is another creation from my October stamp camp. This is my variation of the card posted by Cheri Stojkovich on FB, Cheri's Cards.  Of course, it is impossible to recreate this beauty without the Mosaic Mood Specialty DSP (#149478, p.167).  Details here.
